THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula has raised over P7.8 million as part of the command's contribution to the "Philippine National Police (PNP) Bayanihan Fund Challenge" dubbed as "Sariling Alay ng Pulis Para Sa Mahirap Project (SAP)."
Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the PNP Bayanihan Fund Challenge is in response to the call of President Rodrigo Duterte for the entire Filipino nation to raise funds to support the campaign of the government and help the poor families, who are greatly affected by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis.
Quidilla said that the total amount raised came from the voluntary contributions of 8,039 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula, which covers the three Zamboanga provinces and the cities of Isabela and Zamboanga.
Quidilla said the contribution per police offices are as follows: Zamboanga City Police Office, P1,398,000; Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, P1,456,000; Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office, P1,445,100; Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, P965,000; Isabela City Police Station, P150,000; Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9, P663,000; and PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula headquarters, P1,746,656.
He commended the 442 police commissioned officers, 7,193 police non-commissioned officers and 404 non-uniformed personnel, who regardless of their ranks and positions, have answered the call of the PNP to gather P200 million, aimed at supporting the government's response and efforts against the dreaded disease.
He said the collected funds will then be remitted to the PNP Director for Comptrollership, the office primarily in charge for the said purpose, and will be eventually turned over to the to the national government. (VoxPop Zamboanga)
