LIEUTENANT Colonel Jasper Edward Obar, the former commander of 51st Infantry Battalion, has been assigned as the assistant chief of staff for education and training (G8) of the Army's 1st Infantry "Tabak" Division.
Obar succeeded Lieutenant Colonel Philip Fagel, who will be assigned to a higher unit in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Colonel Pompeyo Jason Almagro, chief of staff of the 1st Infantry Division, who presided the turnover ceremony Friday, July 24, thanked and congratulated Fagel for the professionalism and outstanding accomplishment during his stint as the chief of G8.
Almagro also directed the Obar to work with passion and urgency to keep the pace with the command's mission.
"Let us conquer the challenges ahead and step up the momentum in sustaining the gains for our common aspirations," Almagro said.
Obar is a graduate of Royal Military College in Australia in the year 1997. He also topped his class in Scout Ranger Course in 2001.
He is also a graduate of Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism at Macquire University, Sydney, Australia and Master of Public Management Major in Development Society in Development Academy in the Philippines.
He finished his Command and General Staff Course in AFP, Education, Training and Doctrine Command in the year 2017.
Obar expressed his deepest gratitude to the leadership for considering him as the chief of G8.
He also vowed to work closely with other staff to accomplish the task of the office he now assumes. (VoxPop Zamboanga)
